review.jpg - We review the key aspects of the resort on a scale from one to ten -- one being horrendously bad, and ten being truly outstanding. Rooms: 6.5 In serious need of updating. When staying at a resort of this caliber, you do not expect to see plumbing dangling out of broken holes in the wall. The rating reflects what a customer would expect. Housekeeping did a good job of keeping the room clean. The room was usually serviced without us needing to request it. Water sports/Activities: 8 They had a good number of Hobies -- all in tough shape, but functional. They had windsurfing gear but in very bad condition. Of course, the snorkeling was very good. We brought all of our own gear and left from the beach. Snorkel boats were available at no cost, but we did not use them. Bars: 9 There was decent selection of top shelf liquor, and generally friendly and helpful tenders. Real bananas were generally available for your frozen drinks and such. Restaurants: 9.5 We found the food and restaurant service to be very good. There is no limit on the number of times you could dine at any given restaurant. Reservations were pretty easy to obtain. Beach/Pools/Grounds: 9.5/4/7.5 The beach is public, and vendors ply the beach (and water) on a regular basis. For those bothered by such things, this would not be a good beach. However, the beach is beautiful and very clean. The resort has one pool area -- two if you are willing to use the pool at the nude beach (which was much cleaner and better kept than the main pool). There were a few hot tubs, but all were unusable due to poor temperatures or cleanliness. Again the hot tub by the nude beach seemed to be the best kept. We used it one morning, but we had our wetsuits on! The snorkeling area was accessed via the nude beach, so we were there pretty often. The grounds were generally lackluster and not very remarkable -- the nighttime illumination of the banyon tree being the highlight of the 'grounds'. Reception/Front desk: 9/na We were greeted with cool beverages and shown our room with delay. Overall Service: 8 Generally very good, but exceptions existed and resulted in a lower score. Overall: 8.0 The resort is a more than a little old and has some issues require significant attention. The food was excellent. The service was usually very good, but sometimes not. The last time we were here, the resort received an amazing 9.7, but this is definitely not the same resort.
