| This trip was a wildlife photography trip along the central coast of California. It was intended to be the "Beauty and the Beast" tour -- capturing images of the migrating Monarch butterflys and the Elephant seals in their rookeries. However, we saw very few Monarchs. I guess we can just call this the "Beast" tour! We had heard that this was the best time of year to photograph the Elephant Seals along the Big Sur coast, and we were very happy with the amount of seals we were able to photograph and observe. We did some general photo touring at various locations along the coast, and we've included some of our shots here to help us share our trip with you! We flew into LA, and then drove out of Sant Barbara the next day. We stopped a couple of times on the way up to Monterey, spent a few days there, and then drove back down to LA. Most of the shots are from the Monterey area, and the weather was really nice for the majority of the trip. We have a couple of recommendations for those of you traveling out to this area. Mission Inn of Pismo Beach is a *great* place to stay. It's not on the beach, but was a very nice place. In Monterey, Vito's Italian restaurant is fantastic! Los Lobos is a terrific Nature Preserve near Carmel -- a must-see for nature watchers. We hope you enjoy our pictures. We certainly enjoyed taking them!
