Yellow Eyelash Viper (captive). Eyelash vipers are palm pit vipers named for the bristle scales above their eyes. They are among the smallest poisonous snakes of Central America, but are not very aggressive unless teased or stepped upon. Unlike most snakes, the eyelash vipers have a rough scaled skin which may serve to help protect them in the branches of the trees they inhabit. Eyelash vipers have been inadvertently introduced around the world because of banana shipments. | CostaRica_73.JPG |
