Title.jpg - There is a place called 'The Alligator Farm' down in St Augustine, Florida. The farm is a bit of a zoo, but it's also home to a large bird rookery. The birds fly in to nest and breed there every year because the alligators below deter most of the common threats that nesting birds would endure (a weasel or a rat is probably not going to make it past the 'gator gauntlet). They have their chicks and then fly off for another year. If you can be there during the nesting period, it can be quite a show! This web page includes two trips -- one in April when the nests were being built, and one in June after the chicks have hatched. It took us a long time to thin out all of the images we shot, but we hope you enjoy them!Happy trails, Mike & Hali
