Intro.jpg - We wanted to do something a little special for our 20th anniversary (and also the double nickel b-day for Hali), and Italy has been on our list for a long time. We decided on a 2 week trip with about half of that time being spent in Cinque Terre and the other half in the Florence/Siena area. We flew into Florence and spent 2 days kicking around there. Then we rented a car and drove down to Siena. We spent 3 days driving around and sightseeing in the Siena area. Then we drove back to Florence and caught a train over to Cinque Terre. We spent 6 days there, traveling to a different town every day. Then we took another train back to Florence and spent our last 2 days there. We now know why so many people love visiting Italy. The food and wine alone are enough to get me there, but there is also so much to see! The weather was generally very good for us. We had a day or two with some rain, but nothing too bad. There were a couple of days that shorts were appropriate, and a couple of days that required a light jacket. I suppose September in New England is the same way. Oh, and the people were all so friendly (with the notable exception of Sarzana, don't go there). We really enjoyed the places that we visited and look forward to another trip to Italy in the future. We tried to capture some of the moments from our trip in the pictures here. We hope you enjoy viewing them! Happy trails! - Mike & Hali
