Teddy Bear Cholla (pronounced ˈCHoi(y)ə. ) Also known as Jumping Cholla. Cholla cacti are the only cactus with papery sheaths covering their spines giving them a bright appearance. These are called Jumping Cholla because the stems with the spines can break off easily becoming lodged into clothing, or skin and can be difficult and painful to remove. | 2017_05_SanDiegoandJoshuaTree-10490-Edit1000.jpg |
