Ghost town at the abandoned Treadwell Mines. This old gold mining site is now overgrown and is a ghost town, but in it's time it crushed 5000 tons of ore daily, the largest gold mining operation in the world in 1915. The mine flooded in 1917 filling 3 of the 4 active mines with 3 million tons of seawater in 3 1/2 hours.
