INTRO.jpg - This September we decided on a last-minute trip to Moab, Utah. Hali found some good fares to Salt Lake City, and Moab has been on our list of places to visit for a while. I don't have a clue about where to go, or what to see out there. Fortunately, Hali has excellent research and planning skills! Once again, she came up with a list of all the cool places to see and the best time of the day to see them -- very important for taking the best pictures possible. We spent one night in Salt Lake and then drove out to Moab in some mixed weather. We hit some heavy rain during the drive, but only for a few minutes. The weather was overcast for the first day, but we went shooting anyway. The next two days had some mixed sun and clouds, and we tried to take advantage of that. The rest of the trip was solid blue skies (great weather, but not as great for photos). We spent time in Arches National Park, along Scenic Byway 128, and also in Canyonlands national park. We would often rise before dawn to photograph sunrise, and then go out later and shoot past sunset -- sometimes well after sunset. Needless to say, we were running short of sleep for most of the trip. The many local coffee shops all received some of our business (although our favorite was the Red Rocks Cafe). We ate a few regular meals, but it was mostly grabbing food as time allowed. We took over 4500 images, and included a small selection of those images here. There was so much to see, and we could have easily spent another week there. I guess we'll have to go back!Happy trails,Mike & Hali
