2010_10_03_Yellowstone-10114_2_Edit750.jpg - We saw the remains of an elk in the riverbed in the Lamar Valley very early one morning and walked down a ways to wait to see what would happen as the sun rose. We were at least 175 yards from the kill (guidelines are you need to be 100 yards from a wolf, bear or coyote) and we watched as coyotes worked the kill. As it got lighter I turned to look behind us and saw this female wolf walking warily above the road behind us (by this time there were plenty of other photographers and wolf watchers thronging the side of the road). She was able to cross the road and come down to feed on the kill. Shortly after we were shooed back to our car by one of the "wolf guys" because other photographers kept trying to get too close.
