Title.jpg - Almost exactly 5 years after our previous trip to Yellowstone, we decided to take a return trip to the area.   This time around we left about 2 weeks earlier in the month in hopes of catching the peak Aspen foliage season in the Grand Teton National Park.   Unlike the previous trip, this trip included a stay outside the East entrance in the Shoshone National Forest.   From there we took 2 day trips over to the McCullough Peaks Wild Horse Management Area (near Cody). The weather was mixed, but it never was really a problem.   It snowed one day (which sent us back from the Dunraven Pass) but it cleared in a day or two.   We had a little snow, some rain, lots of sun, some cold, and some warmth.   Like I said -- mixed! We saw a bit less wildlife as compared to the previous trip.   However this trip included a VERY close experience with a Grizzly bear.   We also had the misfortune to have a hunter shoot a Pronghorn Antelope WHILE WE WERE PHOTOGRAPHING IT, and we were not that far away from it.   That was at the McCullough Peaks area, and that really changed our opion of hunters in general.   It also drives home the difference between National Parks and BLM areas (please support our National Parks).   That experience aside, photographing the wild horses was a great new adventure. Just like the previous trip, we saw tourists getting ridiculously close to large and dangerous wildlife.   Luckily there was no consequence for those people (although think of the pictures we could have gotten -- kidding).   Oh we also spent more time in the geyser area this time around, and we happened to catch Old Faithful erupting. We put almost 3000 miles on the rental car in 2 weeks, but it didn't really seem crazy at the time. All in all, we had a really nice time. We've included a select group of photos in this web page, and we hope you will enjoy viewing them as much as we enjoyed making them Happy trails, Mike & Hali For your reference and ours, here are the places we stayed: Riverside Cottages, Gardiner, MO Shoshone Lodge & Guest Ranch, Cody, WY Elk Country Inn, Jackson, WY We ate at a bunch of nice places, but we loved the Yellowstone Grill in Gardiner. They have an awesome breakfast and lunch there!
