| The cougar (Puma concolor) is known by many names - mountain lion, panther, puma and catamount. It has "the largest range of any wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere" (Wikipedia). It is actually more closely related to domestic cats than it is to it's larger wild cousin the jaguar.
