The Amur leopard is also known as the Far East leopard, the Manchurian leopard or the Korean leopard. They are a different subspecies than the snow leopard. They are incredible runners, sprinting up to 37 miles per hour and leaping up to 19 feet horizontally and 10 feet vertically. Like many leopards, Amur leopards are crepuscular - active mostly during sunset and in early mornings -- when they hunt for roe and sika deer, wapiti, moose and wild pig. They have been also been known to take down Eurasian black bears less than 2 years old. They have long limbs which helps them walk through the deep snow of their home habitats. | 2016_01_11_Montana-10092-Edit1000.jpg |
