Most cow moose will abandon or chase away their calves when they turn a year old but since this cow did not breed successfully she stayed with her yearling protectively watching over it. This was taking at the logging road depot where the moose come to lick salt to get the calcium in it. The logging roads put down calcium carbonate or something similar to help hold down the dust of the roads. | 2009_07_02_Maine-479-Edit-Edit.jpg |
